Windows remotes assistance requests

I have quite a few friends online and on Live messenger service who frequently run into all kinds of problems, with issues ranging from: windows settings - software installations - and even hardware configurations.

Remote assistance requests have been a real time and money saver for many users who would otherwise have to call in a service engineer to resolve some of the simplest issues that confront people every day.

The service can be used in two levels:

1. As a viewer you can watch over a users actions and advise where they may be going wrong.

2. Or interactivately taking control over someone's computer and acting as though you were sitting right next to them, and performing the tasks while they watch and learn.

If you pay to have an (often expensive) technician come and resolve all your problems, you could have financed yourself with a new computer with the time and money saved getting help from a trusted friend instead.

To use Remote assistance, you must observe the following:

To connect using remote assistance, you must have any connection, which supports TCP/IP:

local area network (LAN )
Wide area network (WAN)
dial-in via Modem
via the Internet
(Preferrably a broadband connection)

Note:
Both the system of the Novice and Expert must have Windows XP installed.
When connecting via a firewall, TCP/IP port 3389 must be open and available.
