Death is final
As the human race grew and our minds evolved to the point in existance where we became self-concious and aware of our own existance we were also left to wonder about why we are here, and for many people would end up concluding that there is little or even no point to living except to keep the species alive. So our minds in self-defense subconciously created the idea of a god so we would have a purpose in living, because if everyone believed we didn't have a purpose there would be a hell of alot more crime/suicide/murder and so on than there is now. It is for the very same reason that I also feel that people have the need to believe in 'life after death' but for me the only reasonable conclusion that people fear death is because they fear the unknown, but having a religion to believe in doesn't help to relieve that fear anyway. It's not death or even after death that scares me. Dying however does, because it's probably going to hurt like hell. In conclusion: I do not and never will believe in 'life after death'
this in my eyes is the ultimate reality. nobody as yet has proven it any the other way. Footnote:
I have not posted this as grounds for arguing religion,
I merely point out that religion and life after death are in my opinion nothing more than the unfounded need to believe in something...

We have two eyes, which is a hint that we need those more as we only have one mouth. The two ears are also a sign, so... with 4 tools that enable one to aquire information and only one to share information, I guess you could say that using the other four is being observant.
